Climate by Season
Spring (March - May)
Ideal weather (15°C - 25°C). Petra blooms with wildflowers, and Wadi Rum offers comfortable days, though nights remain cool. Aqaba is perfect for swimming.
Peak season; book early.
Summer (June - Aug)
Hot and dry. Petra can reach 38°C, Wadi Rum 40°C. However, low humidity makes it manageable. Desert nights cool down nicely to 20°C.
Plan activities early morning/late afternoon.
Autumn (Sept - Nov)
Excellent season (20°C - 30°C). Wadi Rum is perfect for hiking and stargazing. The Red Sea remains warm for diving.
Bring a light jacket for evenings.
Winter (Dec - Feb)
Cool days (10°C - 18°C) and cold nights, sometimes freezing in the desert. Aqaba is the warmest spot (15°C - 22°C).
Warm layers & sleeping bag essential.

Petra
Semi-arid. Elevation (1,000m) means cooler nights. Hot summers, cool winters.
Wadi Rum
Arid desert. Large daily temperature swings. Winter nights can freeze; summer days are hot but dry.
Aqaba
Warm, tropical climate year-round. Hot summers tempered by sea breezes. Mild winters.

- Layers: Climate varies by altitude. Pack lightweight clothes for day, warm layers for night.
- Hydration: The desert air is dry. Drink plenty of water, even in winter.
- Sun Protection: The sun is strong year-round. Hats and sunscreen are mandatory.
- Check Forecasts: Winter rain can cause flash floods in canyons; keep an eye on alerts.
Common Questions
Does it snow?
Rarely, but it can happen in high elevations like Petra or Amman in Jan/Feb. Wadi Rum almost never sees snow.
Is summer too hot?
